Final Product and Shipping Update
over 6 years ago – Tue, Oct 31, 2017 at 08:11:04 PM

Hi Backers!

As of this morning everyone who filled out the survey should have received an email with confirmation that their reward has shipped! If you have not received a shipping email from us please email [email protected] (we got a new domain). I apologize for not sending an update sooner. We were working really hard to get everything ready and shipped out as fast as we could.

The last three weeks we were working with our screen printer. There job was to put the graphics on to the coated sheets, apply adhesive backing and cut the sheets down to the final size. The biggest issue we ran into was that they needed larger margins for screen printing than we initially thought. This meant that we had to reduce the size of the small 210 x 210mm (8.5" x 8.5") size to 200 x 210mm other wise we wouldn't have had enough. If this is a problem for anyone let us know and we will exchange if for a larger size.

The support and confidence of our Backers means a lot to us so I wanted to address some questions about the order of shipping. Kickstarter Backers were always put at the top of the list before other pre-orders. We took partial shipments from the screen printer as they were available and shipped all the orders we could at that time. This meant that some of the post Kickstarter pre-orders got shipped early, but only after we had filled all the Kickstarter Orders we could at that time. Sorry if there was any confusion.

We can't thank you enough for your support throughout this project. We think EZ-Stik lives up to our promise of the first truly easy to use, reliable build surface. However, the most important thing is what you think! Please follow us and share your comments and videos with us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Thanks,

Brad Ruff

P.S. We have one more thing planned to show our appreciation. Stay tuned for more details. ;-)

Coating process is complete!
over 6 years ago – Mon, Oct 09, 2017 at 08:02:12 PM

Hi Backers!

We hope everyone had a good weekend. The last few weeks have been exciting for us. We were finally able to complete the coating process last week and it went great. See below for more info on the coating process. Now that the coating process is done that means we can make our final plans to start shipping your rewards!

  • If you need to update you address in Backerkit please do so by Wednesday October 11th. (click here to check your order info
  • We are planning to have final product ready to start shipping on Monday October 16th.

Scaling up the coating process was by far the riskiest part of the entire EZ-Stik Kickstarter campaign. Preparing for the final production coating process is where 80% of our time has been spent over the last 4 months. Continuous coating is great for creating a lot of product very quickly, but if something isn't right then you waste a large amount of material and money very quickly. So we had to get it right on the first try.

After a number of delays last week, mostly due to suppliers affected by the recent hurricanes in the U.S., we were finally able to complete the coating process last week. It took a little tinkering with the machine but we were able to get a really nice smooth coating that was fully dried as it exited the drying oven. See the videos below.

We already tested samples from several different sections and all of them have passed with flying colors. The final step is to apply the graphics and adhesive. That is already underway and will be completed by the end of this week.

This week we are preparing and practicing our shipping process so that we can try to get all of the Kickstarter orders shipped as fast as possible. We will also be creating more videos showing EZ-Stik in action. If you have any specific materials or prints that you would like us to make a video of just let us know.

We will keep you updated as we have more information.

Thanks,

Brad Ruff

Full Production and Delivery Update
over 6 years ago – Fri, Sep 15, 2017 at 01:32:15 AM

After a ton of testing and feedback we are finally ready to start full production of EZ-Stik!

The first, and most important step is applying the coating. We are scheduled to complete that on September 27th. The next step is to print the graphics, apply the adhesive and cut the sheets to their final size. That will take about a week. So we are now looking at shipping during the first and second week of October

The delay in shipping is because we wanted to make absolutely sure that everything is ready for production. The material properties of the coating are really sensitive to how they are processed. For the last several weeks, the main task has been reviewing the samples and notes from the pilot run so that we can determine the machine parameters and additives that produce the best product. Now we know what to do when we go to full scale.

We made a series of videos showing how easy the removal is with different materials. This gecko model is a great test because it has thin legs and large feet touching the surface. If it sticks even a little too much then the legs break off. These all worked perfect on the first try.  Enjoy!
