Survey Update
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Jun 30, 2017 at 11:53:12 PM

Production Update

It's been a very busy but productive couple of weeks for us. We are now most of the way through the lab scale testing. As we learned with the first Kickstarter Campaign, it's difficult to predict exactly how long scaling up materials and chemistry will take. The good news is that the hardest most unpredictable parts of scale up are behind us.  Next step is to order the materials and schedule the pilot production run. We will have more details on the timeline and delivery dates in the next update.

Survey Issues

The surveys went out this week through Backerkit and there were some minor issues for some. I am new to using backerkit and made some mistakes in how I set up the surveys. I believe that everything is corrected now. You can go back and make changes to your survey responses at anytime. Here is a list of things that were corrected.

  • Added a $150 10 Pack (club level) option to the add ons. In there you can choose between different sizes.
  • The Early Bird option to get 2 small sheets of different types (1 Hot and 1 Cold) was added.
  • The Early Bird Backers not have the option to upgrade to the X-Large size (16"x16") by adding $10 to their pledge
  • The Early Bird Backers also have the option to add a second Sheet to their order for the $19 Early Bird price.

If you are still experiencing issues send us a message and we will get it figured out.

Printing with TPU and Nylon

There was a request to show removing TPU prints from EZ Stick. Here is a quick video of a tire for a toy truck printed in Ninjatek Cheetah. There is also a bonus video of removing a Gopro mount I printed in Taulmans Alloy 910.  Both prints were done with the bed at 50C. Enjoy!

Thanks!

July 9th Update - Backerkit
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Jun 09, 2017 at 08:57:07 PM

Hi Backers,

We've been hard at work getting everything moving. We've ordered materials and working on scaling up production. There is a lot of bench testing to do in the lab to make sure that we know the exact processing parameters for full production. So far everything is on track for delivery in August.

We made the decision to go with Backerkit to help with fulfillment and handle on going pre-orders. We will send out all the surveys next week. That is where you will input your shipping address and choose what type of EZ Stick and size if applicable. It will also allow you to add additional EZ Stick sheets, removal tools and cleaning wipes to your order.

Justin posted a comment asking for an example of removing PETG parts. I made this quick video here of removing a frame brace part that I made for a friends 3D Printer. The material is Inland PETG. Printed with the extruder at 240C and the Bed at 70C. After allowing everything to cool down it popped right off. Enjoy!

Leave a comment if you have any other requests for parts to print or materials to demo. We will keep you updated on our progress. Have a great weekend!

Thanks,

Brad Ruff

That's a wrap!
almost 7 years ago – Thu, May 25, 2017 at 02:15:00 PM

Hi Backers,

Our Kickstarter campaign ended at $31,906 with 932 Backers. Just over the first stretch goal so everyone gets a free removal tool!

Thank you all for the confidence and support. We wouldn't have been able to raise the capital needed to launch EZ stick without you.

Now the hard work begins. We already started talking with our suppliers to get the raw materials moving.  The first step is to do a pilot production run. Once that is completed we will be looking for Beta Testers to help us make sure the process is dialed in. If you are interest in that stay tuned for details.

We will figure out all the exact order detail once we send out the surveys. We will try to do an update at least every 2 weeks to keep you up to date.

Feel free to share any questions, comments or concerns along the way!

Thanks,

Brad Ruff

48 Hours Left to Reach the Stretch Goal!
almost 7 years ago – Sun, May 14, 2017 at 06:50:06 AM

Hi Backers,

With 2 days left we are less than $2,000 away from our stretch goal. If we make one last push to get the word out then I'm sure we can get to $30,000 so that everyone gets a free Plastic Removal Tool and Cleaning Wipes.

We want to remove any doubt that EZ Stick Build Surfaces work as great as we claim so we are adding an extra incentive. If you are not completely satisfied with your EZ Stick Build Surface we will refund 100% of your pledge AND give you a roll of filament!

We have a large stock of ABS and PLA filament that we use for testing and are willing to put that on the line to convince any skeptics that EZ Stick is the real deal. This offer is only good for the Kickstarter campaign so there is nothing to lose!

Help us spread the word and convince those that still think it's 'normal' to print on hair spray that there is a better way. We can crush that Stretch Goal!

Thanks,

Brad Ruff
